Project Arnold

Welcome to project Arnold.   We hope that the end result will bare close resemblance to factory Audi Sport Quattro.  The basis for the project is the sorry looking 1982 Audi Ur-quattro.  I picked it up on ebay for chum change back in 2005 with hopes of simply parting it out.  The suspension ended up on my 4kq and the engine was taken by another Ur-q nut Michael Hopton.  Here are few pics from the auction and the day it arrived in Canada.

Fast forward couple of years.  I was visiting my family in Poland and thought to check the internet and see what Audi related places/people I can find while I was there.  Lo and behold I found Mr. Koraszewski.  Little known out in US Mr. Koraszewski has a genuine Sport Quattro.  He used his car to make molds of all of the body panels.  Here are couple of pics of his copy.

Well.. it didn’t take us long to figure we can buy the kit and build us a copy as well.  I still had the ’82 in a barn and all we needed to do is find a 2-door to get the all important doors and B-pillars.  Here is what I found in Philadelphia courtesy of Ted (Inline5Fan).  28 hours later and we had us a roof with A and B pillars as well as those all important doors.

May 2007 I bought my first home and with it a nice two car garage.. finally enough space to store and play with all my toys.. J  Thanks to Mike we took the ’82 out of storage and transported it to my garage where the project will take place.

Feb 9th 2008, the first cut is made and the project begins.  That weekend we pulled out the engine and most of the engine compartment stuff along with interior and wiring harness.  Over next couple of nights I finished stripping whatever was left getting ready to throw it on a rotisserie.

Craig made a very nice rotisserie when he was restoring his ’84,

the progress can be seen on this page http://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12422&highlight=highlander

The ‘82 is now finally upside down.  Next step is to strip all the undercoating, fix the accident damage and remove 12” from the wheelbase.. J

In meantime I am off to Poland to load the kit and another 2-door (for Mike) onto a container and ship it to this side of the pond.

Obviously there is a lot more to come.

In meantime few pics of the progress.
